International Football Association Board AGM 2016

“It was a historic occasion with so many key decisions around the future of football being made. It was fitting that the new FIFA President Gianni Infantino was also present at the 130th IFAB AGM. This was his first public event since being elected into

Orchard were commissioned by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to create a suitable environment for the International Football Association Board’s (IFAB) Annual General Meeting which included press conferences, hospitality and entertainment for delegates and partners throughout the weekend.

The brief was to produce a fully immersive welsh event.  The creative concept saw Welsh literary giants Roald Dahl and Dylan Thomas form a thread throughout the weekend’s activities offering an insight into the Welsh love of language.

Hosted at the St. David’s Hotel & Spa, the Roald Dahl Suite became home of a very historic AGM, whilst the Dylan Thomas Suite welcomed the numerous press parties.  The dinner on the first evening was held at the National Museum Wales, with Orchard designing and producing the whole evening which included bespoke football illustrations in the style of Quentin Blake, Dahl’s books inspired the menu and a local performance academy, Dimensions, who re-created snippets from Dahl’s greats.

There were trips for the delegates’ partners to Angela Gray’s Cookery School at Llanerch Vineyard and the Norwegian Church on the waterfront, where partners were greeted by Prof. Damian Walford Davies for a presentation on Dahl’s life.

The Gala Dinner on the final evening saw actor Alex Harries perform a reading from Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, Soprano Gwawr Edwards, and Only Men Aloud perform for the delegates.
