September is upon us and as we wake up to the sound of rain most mornings, we’ve been forced to put down our Pimms and grab our Autumn attire. There may be a few moans and groans around the office when we look up to drizzly clouds each day, but it’s also given us the chance to reflect on our super crazy (but totes awesome) summer. Queue our #SummerThrowback…
We got sporty!
We weren’t shy of any sporting events in Wales this summer - from the arrival of Geraint Thomas for his homecoming celebration to the Extreme Sailing Series at Cardiff Bay. Our team were there capturing all of the action and showing our support. The Wales women’s national football team also played their biggest match of the year against England, which was, despite the setback, arguably the biggest match ever for Wales’s women.
Another Year, Another Sponsorship:
We are proud, that we have once again signed as Headline Sponsor of the Welsh Premier Women’s League (WPWL) for the 3rd season in a row. We’re super keen to be supporting Welsh sport and women in football at such an exciting time, and we want to play our part in this success by boosting the sport at club level to ensure long-term benefit.
Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18:
Cardiff was the host city for the world’s most prestigious sailing event this year, and it was the first time in 12 years Volvo Ocean Race chose the UK as part of its route. Our Production, PR and Social were on hand from start to finish.
We went abroad!
Our travels didn’t just stop at chasing sailors across the globe. Firstly, we went across Europe on a pizza road trip. Have a read of our adventures here.
Four exciting episodes came from the trip, with all episodes still available on BBC iPlayer for your viewing pleasure *wink wink
We also got all Celtic in France at the Festival Interceltique. We have worked with the festival for the past 10 years, and this year saw the ‘Year of Wales’. From local Welsh talent Ofelia (which includes Dan from our warehouse *fangirls) to proper Welsh Food, Companies and of course, good vibes! Who’s excited for 2019?!
We got our Welsh on!
We certainly haven’t been short of any Welsh festivities this year. From a little town in France right back to our city centre, we were engrossed in celebrating Wales.
Eisteddfod 2018 #Steddfod2018
This year saw the cultural Welsh festival back in the Capital for the first time in a decade! The week saw a celebration of the Welsh Culture and we can’t wait for Eisteddfod 2019 which is taking place in Llanrwst, Conwy County from 2-10 August.
Tafwyl x Orchard
We were proud to support Cardiff’s Best Festival (Cardiff Music Awards 2018) as this year’s official Media Partner. Tafwyl celebrates all things Welsh – did you know over half of our team are fluent Welsh speakers? Tafwyl will be back next year and we’re super excited for the next celebration of the Welsh language. #Tafwyl19
From making changes to our social media to eating tonnes of rainbow cake; we certainly got colourful and this year’s Pride Cymru was bigger and better than ever before with Cardiff welcoming a celebration of community, culture and good times! If you didn’t make it this year, make sure you head out and celebrate Pride next August!
We went LIVE!
Our Entertainment team have just about recovered from the summer months, with an impressive 17 shows under their belt from May to September this year, ranging from small intimate gigs to large Castle shows. Some highlights include…
There’s still TONNES more we could shout about, but the temperature has most definitely dropped since I started writing this blog, so it’s probably safe I stop before we hit Christmas.
We’ve swapped our iced lattes for hot coffee, and Autumn/Winter season is most definitely in full swing. Want to know what we’ll be up to? Keep an eye on our social (and perhaps I’ll do a winter edition of this blog, too).
