The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) have been pioneering change for mental health for over 70 years. They base their beliefs on the fact that good mental health is fundamental to thrive in life. With prevention at the heart of everything they do, the Mental Health Foundation is a charity for all of us.
“Our vision is for a world with good mental health for all. Our mission is to help people to thrive through understanding, protecting and sustaining their mental health.”
The UK is facing its own mental health crisis, and the MHF is at the forefront of the battle. 1 in 6 people in the past week alone have experienced a common mental health problem, and if we don’t act now, depression will be the leading cause of disease burden globally by 2030. During their 70 years, the MHF have delivered ground-breaking evidence from research which offer straight-forward information and tools for everyone. With the backing of their supporters, their aim is to achieve good mental health for all and connect to a wider movement of people who “know the importance of mental health through their own experience and the experience of others.”
There are different factors the MHF specialise in from:
- early years
- children/young people
- people of working age
- workplace wellbeing
- people later in life
- mental health inequalities
- people with learning disabilities
We have joined the movement and so can you. Whether it’s getting involved in Mental Health Awareness week in May, or hosting a tea & talk event, or running a marathon or even a sponsored silence, there are lots of ways we can all get involved.
