Our year so far...

Well, it's been a landmark year for us in our new HQ in the centre of Cardiff, with new team members, new clients, new projects, and lots of new exciting developments.

Here's a snapshot of the last 12 months here at Orchard...

The year kicked off with the launch of the R17, a Welsh arts reflection on the centenary of the Russian Revolution.

Cardiff-based homeless charity, Huggard, was named as our official charity partner for 2017, and we've been working with them on various projects throughout the year.

Our AV team joined us in our new office as well making us complete.

February was party time as we hosted our very successful Orchard HQ housewarming party! I'm sure we'll find an excuse to have a party every year...

The Entertainment team had their first show of the year with Mary Chapin Carpenter, our exhibition team jetted off to Dubai to exhibit the best of Welsh food and drink companies on behalf of the Welsh Government at the Gulfood Exhibition, and our media team were busy working with Principality on both their 6 Nations and Principality Mortgages campaigns.

Meanwhile, did you catch our first BBC television commission - 'Wales Women: Inside the Scrum?'

St Davids Day saw the launch of the 'Year of Legends' campaign from Visit Wales. Watch the epic result from our Production team here.

This was followed swiftly by the majority of our teams' involvement in BioWales 2017 - our seventh consecutive year in the WMC! This event is now recognised as one of the UK's largest life sciences conferences and brokerage events held outside London, and we are so proud to be working on it again for 2018!

A number of our teams were involved in a real first for the Welsh food and drink sector, with the BlasCymru / TasteWales showcase at the Celtic Manor. Its huge success means we are now working on the 2019 event.

We were also super proud to be finalists for not just 1, but 4 categories for the National RAR Agency Awards 2017 in London.

April saw us deliver a very successful Official Handover Ceremony and Public Open Day for the luxury British brand Aston Martin, create and launch a blinder of a campaign for United Welsh Housing Association, while our Production team created a buzz of their own at the MIPTV Exhibition in Cannes.

We were very proud partners for TEDx Cardiff 2017 where we streamed the event in 360. Everybody loves a good TEDx talk!

Our Sarah Thomas was also promoted to Account Manager for Events, AV and Exhibitions.

Work started with MotoNovo Finance to launch their findandfundmycar.com campaign, which kept the media and studio teams pretty busy till the end of the year!

We delivered exhibition stands for Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at the Urdd Eisteddfod; while the rest of our teams were gearing up for the impending UEFA Champions League Final.

Our second television programme of the year was also aired this month - 'Mike Phillips, Y Gêm Olaf'

The start of June saw one of the biggest global events that Cardiff has seen - the UEFA Champions League Final. Working across 9 venues for 5 different clients, it was a real buzz for us to be involved in such a prestigious event, and certainly a weekend to remember for our team.

Summer is always busy for our Entertainment team, and this year was no exception, with a sell-out tour with George Ezra; concerts with Olly Murs, The Jacksons; and our first official show outside of Wales with Elton John rocking Widnes.

Meanwhile, we were proud to be involved in Principality winning Arts Business and Brand Identity at the Arts & Business Cymru Awards.

We also welcomed Jo Reeves into our Media team as Account Assistant.

July's highlight was our sell-out weekend at Access All Eirias where we welcomed Little Mix and Bryan Adams to Colwyn Bay.

We introduced our 'Hire our Space' offering where you can now hire our amazing offices to accommodate meetings, parties, conferences and team building activities.

We also delivered the Home of Good Times Summers Concerts Campaign for Principality; and had a blast at the Royal Welsh Agricultural show, delivering exhibition stands for Principality and the Bar Dwr for Dwr Cymru.

There was no summer holiday for our PR team who were busy managing all the PR and social media for the Cardiff Bay Beach; whilst our Events team enjoyed a trip to the Festival Interceltique Lorient in Brittany, where our client, the Welsh delegation leader Antony Owen Hicks won 'Best Delegate'.

Dwr Cymru's Bar Dwr was back for the National Eisteddfod; along with Exhibition stands for Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, and Principality.

We were pleased to secure a new deal with the Welsh Premier Women’s League (WPWL), to become their Headline Sponsors for the 2017/18 for the second year running.

Bute Park in Cardiff came alive with the dance festival Inside Out; and our Focus Group Testing Facilities – The Lab - officially opened for business.

New recruit this month was Ali Morrill who joins us as Client Relationship Manager, with London in her sights.

Big news this month is that we are now a Top 100 UK Independent Agency!

Also, in a double-win, we secured membership of the prestigious IPA (Institute for Practitioners in Advertising). Both are fantastic accolades for us.

Our Exhibition team was out again with RMG and The Royal Mint in Barcelona and Warsaw, and at the Anuga Exhibition in Cologne; and we also held our first media training session. Learn how you can own your media interview Orchard-style here

Since August 2016, we have been delivering the In Bowl and Fan Activity elements for the Football Association of Wales for Wales's World Cup qualifying campaign, which ended this month with Wales' women securing their place in the final.

Other highlights this month include, work continuing with Principality and their PBS Under Armour Series Activation campaign; the PR and social for the great Volvo Ocean Race; and bagging an exciting, new AV client – Techniquest.

Another recruit this month – Samantha Ellis, who joins us as Social Media Manager.

Have you immersed yourself in one of our 3 VR Christmas experiences at St Davids Shopping Centre in Cardiff that our VR team created, on behalf of FOR Cardiff? Or, played the AR present hunt around the city? If not, there's still time! Get your tickets here

And finally, we end the year on a high, with another award nomination for Experiential Agency of the Year for the Drum UK Events Awards, and welcome another two new team members – Ash Hancock who joins our Events team as Project Manager, and Ursula Marshall who joins us as an Exhibition designer, bringing our total team to 60 cracking people.

So, what's ahead in 2018?

A new look website; exhibiting at The Meeting Show at Olympia in June for the first time; and working with a number of new, big clients, to name but a few exciting plans. Keep up with the latest news on our Twitter and Website.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy new year from Team Orchard.
