Welsh Water’s Summer Show Tour
Our brief was to create an innovative, engaging way for Welsh Water to connect with the public at various outdoor events throughout the summer. This project involved designing, planning, and managing a Welsh Water show tour with two custom-built exhibition units, ensuring Welsh Water could effectively share their messaging at seven key outdoor shows. These included Anglesey Agricultural Show, Brecon County Show, The National Eisteddfod, Cardiff Food Festival, Pembrokeshire County Show, The Royal Welsh Agricultural Show and the Usk Show.

Working closely with Welsh Water, our team designed and built two custom-made exhibition units: a shipping container and a glass-fronted meeting booth. Both units were modular and versatile in their design, allowing for different configurations based on individual event requirements. Whether functioning as full stands or split into smaller, standalone units, these flexible designs effectively communicated Welsh Water’s message to a broad audience. To further enhance the stand and engage attendees, we also incorporated interactive elements such as an 8ft bottle sculpture, planter benches, and educational games designed to captivate and inform the public.
Our team was responsible for a wide range of tasks throughout the project, from the creative and artwork design, (all tailored specifically for each event location) to the booking and scheduling of the tour, and managing logistics across all venues. This included overseeing the build and setup of the exhibition units, the procurement of all necessary materials and onsite management.
Four of the seven events had overlapping dates, so the key challenge was to manage these clashes by ensuring that each event had the appropriate exhibition unit. The two types of exhibition units allowed for flexibility. The shipping container and glass booth could be distributed across the clashing events, while larger shows without date overlaps could feature both units together. This strategic split allowed Welsh Water to maintain a strong presence at all events.
Our dual-unit solution was highly efficient, ensuring Welsh Water could attend all the events seamlessly, despite scheduling conflicts.
The total number of interactions at the events, based on a variety of activities, including the distribution of bottles, leaflets, were estimated to exceed 40,000.

“I can’t thank the team at Orchard enough for their support with the events we have attended over the last seven months. It would not have been possible without you all. ”
“This year, more than ever, we have pushed for our engagement around water efficiency at community shows to be bigger and better; and Orchard have helped us to deliver on that. We had regular meetings and communication to work collaboratively on ideas and opportunities to share key messages, as well as working through challenges such as logistics for the jam-packed schedule.”
“We have had so many compliments on our fresh stand setups. The new modular design has had the wider business inspired to think about how they engage with customers at these types of events, too.”
